Senate committee approves broadening of NSA's authority

Published on Jul 8, 2014 The Senate Intelligence Committee passed the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act in a 12-3 vote late Tuesday evening. Written by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif) and Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga), civil liberties and privacy advocates fear the bill may potentially expand the controversial National Security Agency's power to collect information on Americans.
