The Astrology of January 2013
Square Dance
December Recap ~ A new, long-term planetary arrangement took final shape in 2012. It links deep transformations at the micro- and macro-levels, on individual and group levels. It makes the individual an agent of Aquarian change in his or her own life and in society. December’s influential chart foretells a long-term emphasis on wealth-building and lifestyle and nurturance issues at the grassroots and governmental levels. Constant change and fluid life situations will increase stress levels. These strains will sometimes manifest as disruptive, freakish and possibly violent behavior.
January’s Chart – An Overview
In January, the transformative energies of the new planetary structure are applied to our daily lives. We depend on the stability of relationships with family and community, with employers and coworkers, with those who provide goods and services, or those who buy our goods and services.January’s chart says that all of these important relationships will be shifting unpredictably as people seek freedom to grow, heal and pursue new goals. Interpersonal behavior patterns will change, making new social relationships possible for many, even as other relationships grow more tenuous. Much of this change will come easily for us because of planetary support. However, changes will be more problematic where money and other resources are involved, calling for careful negotiations.
January’s chart preserves the tension between Leo and Aquarius found in December’s chart. Leaders offer solutions based on personal preference and desire, Leo solutions. The grassroots, people on Main Street, demand group-oriented, Aquarian solutions.

Altogether Now
Some of January’s aspects support change in our day-to-day social lives. Other aspects demand changes in sensitive economic areas. New, more tolerant attitudes come up against economic realities. We might accept those who are different, but will we share our resources with them? The Aquarian impulse is strong and most of us answer, Yes.In general the economic and social rewards of tolerance overcome hesitation. Combined, the aspects inspire us to safeguard our own interests, but, at the same time, respect the needs of others and of society as a whole.
January’s chart, like those to come, is grounded in the new stable and long-term planetary structure. It will destabilize things in a consistent manner over a long period of time and, in that way, provide a kind of stability and predictability. This in turn will give us confidence and allow us to plan effectively. The combination of aspects helps us weave a good future from the streams of constantly changing events and circumstances.
We can make the steady flow of challenges and opportunities blend successfully. Countless small successes will inspire widespread optimism, confidence and courage.
